My Summer Project: Beyond Brisbane

Please pray for me as I am going to be involved in a project held by Student Life (a.k.a Campus Crusade for Christ) in the end of this month. This is an outreach project as well as a time where students walk their faith and grow more in God. I really need support in doing this, and I need to train myself to be confident as well.

Student Life considers me and other students in the project as volunteers – I personally consider this as a faith training project, and exciting way of showing God’s love! Anyway, students interested in the project applied, and if we are accepted then we go to the next round which is to fundraise. There are several projects going on hence the amount of money should be raise is different one to each other.

For me, I applied for Beyond Brisbane. This is an outreach to international uni students around Brisbane. I choose the project because I think that this is the most relevant one for me, as I am an international student myself. And I do have the heart for them. I even strongly believe that God brought me here to ‘train my hands’ to love Him more through my loving my intl friends.

It is for two-weeks training and accommodation for the project itself and for the volunteers needs. I may not know you, the one reading this blog posting at the moment. But thank you for reading about what I am doing. I would also like to invite you to partner with me to respond of Jesus’ Great Commission. We could be partner in prayers.

JG Advance Part 2

I imagined something like last year’s church conference. But when I got o the place (Underwood Community Center), I saw only several people there. We were early, so I was assuming maybe more  people would come like 30 or 40 people.

Around 10 am, the project organizer asked us to come inside. And it was only like 30-35 peple. the room was not like what i had in mind.

Yes. The quantity may not be like how a conference ’should’ look like (at least in my head). But the quality of the conference was AWESOME. I got so many things, so many revelations, and truly was blessed to be part of the Ablazers!!

We talked about The Call, something that I heard a lot but never been really dig down about. We learned from Philippians 3:14, “.. But this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the price of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

Our leader from Ablaze shared about the importance in discovering the call in perseverance. How you could take part of God’s call are different one to another, although the purpose is the same; to spread the good news – the broken relationship between men and God that can be restored.

The calling can be described as ‘an identifiable spiritual purpose or objective for your life’ and the journey of discovering the call is:

1. Salvation (Romans 8:30)

2. Sanctification (2 Timothy 1:9)

3. Service (2 Corinthians 5:20)

So we need to know where we’re at. Have we been saved? Because if we haven’t then we won’t be in the ’sanctification’ process, and then in the ’service’ process.

Another IMPORTANT thing that I was truly convicted about is the revelation of PROCESS and PERSONAL EXPERIENCE in discovering the call. I really can see myself was being the subject of the seminar (lol, I know I wasn’t but God just truly opened my mind that what I was going through is normal and there’s solution for it).

So by process, it means that it’s okay and there’s hope even though you don’t get your calling in an obvious spiritual bold way! Because you know what; God is interested in being your partner, to help you discover it bit by bit, and at the most, to discover HIM more! So if you doubt that you are being called, it’s okay! Keep on walking! It’s where the calling will be tested.

Maybe many ’second hand revelations’ you have gotten. By persevering and doing the process, God will filter them into a focused calling that is just PERSONAL and especially for you to do. Remember that he initiate, and our part is to respond.

To do this we also need to know our spiritual gifts. These gifts are the talents that God entrusted to us to do his call. Every believers has the gifts. We are to be responsible with them, and not to waste them.

Through the test, I found that my first spiritual gifts are a new combination, and I’m just curious about them!!

Fulfilling the call is a holy ambition, and can be done by forgetting the past, reaching forward, and pursuing God’s caling. The No-No attitude for this is laziness and lack of discipline (this is where I am at, honest)..

From one of the point, my leader pointed out a motto that truly inspired me a lot. I’ll write it here, so that hopefully it may inspire the ones who read it here, too:

TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.

I am very much thankful for the message in ALC! So powerful and digged my heart thoroughly!

So I’m praying now, God, please include me in your calling for this generation of mine..

JG Advance part 1

I just saw my friend’s photo album on facebook. The title was “JG Advance”. I suddenly remember that I experienced the same event with her, only in my own group. AND instead of doing it independently, we joined ALC (Ablaze Leadership Conference) last weekend. And this is the story!

Firstly I’ll try to explain what JG Advance is. (I hope I get right though, it’s a new term that I really got involved into.) Joshua Generation Advance is a training for leader-gonnabe in my church, Hope Brisbane Christian Church. It’s a 6 months training (once each month) to equip sveral members that is hoped to become future shepherd or leader in the church

Now ’shepherd’ is a term for spiritual mentor in my church. I have been a ’sheep’ since the beginning of this year. So I have a shepherd and so does my shepherd. I think all of us in the church are either a shpherd or a sheep.

My lifegroup leader asked me to consider about being a shepherd. I was so surprised and hesitated to say yes. But I learned that it’s part of faith journey. If I am not ready to be shepherd, never will I feel that I’m ready. It is something that I have to train, and something that I gotta give to God to let him mold me.

To make the long story short, we were in our second training of JG Advance last weekend. It’s the time to (instead of having a class teaching-learning activity), spend time with our leaders. Usually the activity would be hanging out to somewhere or just sleeping over someone’s place (gender seperation of course).

But my leader had an idea of doing something different. To be mixed with Ablaze’s conference. (Ablaze is a Hope service which is held every Friday; ours is the Sunday one). They’re apparently having Ablaze Leader Conference for 2 days. And that’s where we went.

Learning to Play Guitar

Oh I so miss this blog. Many stories haven’t been shared for ages!!

I have a news that I’m even surprising for myself. I am learning how to play guitar!!! Isn’t that awesome?? Me..guitar..such an impossible mixture.. But yes! I do! I know am loving my D, E, A chords (haha..not so much for the other ones)!!

I will share some of the photos later on.. But to write like this is awesome, too! I love it! I have so many things to tell!
